Freedom at Topshop

I went in to Topshop the other day on my lunch break and grabbed a few pieces and some of them were on sale. I was really pleased with some of the pieces because their things I would have bought full price anyway. But who doesn't like I bargain, cause I certainly do!

Green Pendent

Better Late than Never :NYE 2011 Outfit

So it's about 11 days late, but nonetheless its here. I got a couple messages asking me what I wore for NYE so I decide to do a quick post showing you guys what I managed to put together. Send me yours at pics @sue_star9 on twitter (there's a follow me link on the right side of this page).

Kept it simple with just earing because the dress makes a big enough statement so both my wrists and my neck was on mute for the evening

New look Clutch and Platform wedges ( Comfortable and stylish, I had stilettos but the club was finishing at 6...I went for safe option cause it beats sitting down the whole night!)

Beauty: Beach Waves

Style Inspiration
Kim K
It's taken me so long to figure out how to create a beach look without the curls dropping throughout the day. I used Charles Worthing's Rough and Tousled Salt Spray ( It was in my Elle goody bag which was helpful) and Ghd's to create this look and TRESemme ultra hold to keep it in place.

Trend Alert S/S2012 Edition:Fall in Love with Colour

Bottega Veneta S/S 2012
This time last year we saw the catwalks and the high-street filled with lots of bright and vibrant block coloured pieces that embodied the power to brighten up even the gloomiest of days. So what's the next chapter in our fashion evolution i hear you ask? Think BRIGHT Prints Bold Cuts and of course Bright Shoes!

Marc Jacobs S/S 2012

So you have to make a choice between playing it safe with your current wardrobe which consists of black, black and the occasional white piece or making a statement by investing in the some bold coloured pieces (its a no brainer). I know stepping out your comfort zone isn't easy but thats the exciting part! and trust me you will never look back because lets face it life is so much more fun in colour!
Burberry Prorsum S/S 2012
The days of dressing matchy matchy (it is as it sounds) is a thing of the past (thank God we have realised that there is more to fashion then dressing in one colour from head to toe). Nowadays, when you are dealing with colour I find the best approach is as mixing and matching. Find a print you like and then find another coloured piece that you feel compliments it. Don't be afraid to wear a completley different colour shoe either, cause if you look at the Bottega Veneta image above, you can see how the green shoe creates a great contrast against orange prints on the dress. For some reason it just works!

Sue's Picks : Fall in Love on the High-street
So I am well aware that the majority of us don't have a designer budget to our disposable ( we will get there eventually #ambition) so as usual I am going to give you guys a breakdown of my favourite high-street pieces that make the trend accesiable for fashionistas like you and I.

Elle Beauty Breakthrough Competition: The Future Starts Here

Elle Jan 2012 Issue Goes Gaga and yes the future does start here, in more ways then one!
As most of you already know, back in October I applied for the Elle Beauty Breakthrough competition to potentially win a year long paid internship at Elle HQ and PZ Cussons Pr as well.

Out of 475 applicants, I am very proud and honoured to say that I made the final twenty. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that voted for me as well as the panel of judges who also believed in my talent.

Meeting the panel was definitely the highlight of my journey in the competition. Walking in to a room filled with accomplished, successful and such humble women left me with strong feeling of female empowerment (Beyonce was not lying when she said that we run the world). I left that room feeling like I could be anything I wanted to be (although, I was a bag of nerves for the most part). Meeting Jennifer Dickison and the Pr Cussons and Head Pr team, made my dreams of wanting to work for a publication like Elle, all the more real. My dreams at that moment in time no longer felt like a distant bubble, they felt real, possible and more importantly achievable.

This competition has definitely taught me some life lessons that I will never forget and cherish throughout the rest of my career in the industry:

1. Always believe in yourself, if you don't no one else will!
2. Take risks and don't be scared of failure, you have nothing to lose!
3. That its really not all about winning, it is the taking part the counts! I know that I have what it takes but I also know that I need to grow, so when its my time is here, I will be the best I can possibly be!

Although, I didn't win the prize, I won in other ways.I overcame my nerves. I met some amazing people who have inspired me with their presence. The most exciting thing is that Jennifer Dickision, Elle's Acting Editor, knows who I am (I still can't get my head around this fact), and tweeted this about me:
This has to be my favourite Tweet of all time!

I also got this Fab Goody Bag that I was given filled with Charles Worthington,St Tropez and Sanctuary products!

The Moral of this blog post is believe in your dreams, reach for stars (as cliche as it sounds)and never limit yourself because you never know what you are capable of achieving. I am just starting my journey in to the Fashion & Beauty industry and I know it is going to take alot of hard work and dedication to get to where I want to be in life. But I will get there. If this competition has done anything for me, it has most definitely left me more hungry, determined and focused towards reaching my goals.

2012 will be my year. My Future starts here and so does yours!

Lets Make One New Years Resolution this year to become the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be!

Once again thank you for your support

Lots of Love

Christian Louboutin : A Man With A Serious Shoe Fetish

No matter where you live in the world, no matter what language you speak, if you speak fashion, Christian Louboutinn's is a household name amognst you and your friends. In a society, where fashion is one of the biggest symbols of wealth and status, as females we are divided in to two catergories : the Red Soled Vixens and the Plain Jaines.

Whether it is ethically right to make judgement's on one other soley on the way that they dress is a whole other debate (which i should blogging about very soon). Because we all know that fashion isn't always ethical. Nonetheless, shoe lovers around the globe continue to buy Louboutin shoes, just as much for the quality of the shoe as the status it offers them.

What I want to know is where our obbession with shoes come from? Why did we all of a sudden wake up and think it is neccesary for us to wear extremely uncomfortable shoes all in the name of fashion. If anyone has the anwser to these questions it's Mr Louboutin himself ....

" A little act of discomfort pays off in lots of other ways"

Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen, clearly us women are willing to do whatever it is (even it causes are toes to bleed) stand out and more importantly feel beautiful. Now I'm not saying that I am the type of person that follows the crowd but this really has got me thinking. Who knows maybe one day I will treat myself to a pair, but rest assured I will keep my receipt handy, because if they don't make me feel like a superstar, then I will feel like I have bought into a false dream.
Untill then, Ladies, make the most of what you have, feel confident within yourself, so that any added confidence booster is an added bonus!

Fashion News: The Launch of Versace For H&M

So I know I'm not the only one who is super excited about the Versace/ H&M collabaration which is set to hit London stores November 17th (let the countdown begin!). No doubt, there will be a lot clothes flying, fights over mirror space and plenty of squabbling over sizes (think tug of war, minus the mud, plus lots of Versace). So make sure you come prepared girls and dare I say it...wear flats ( who are we kidding, we need to be comfortable, we'll just save our heels for when we debut our red hot Versace pieces ...yes that's far more of a sensible idea!).

Blake Livley, Emma Roberts, Nikki Minaj, Mark Ronson

The new limited edition range was officially launched yesterday in New York where a star studded runway show and after party took place.

"Ladies, if one thing’s for sure, it isn’t always easy finding a cosmetics brand that you can trust. In my 21 years, I have gone through bottles upon bottles of mismatched foundation, been cheated on by waterproof mascara with rain, and worst of all worn concealer that did more exposing than anything else (fashion faux pas isn’t even the word…believe me!) .

I remember my first makeup spree (at the tender age of 16) and I can tell you from firsthand experience; without the right guidance, the makeup hall in Selfridges can be a very daunting place. As I made my way towards the Estee Lauder counter, my attention was drawn to a beautifully poised makeup artist at the Mac Counter. I couldn’t help but staring at her flawless skin, fierce lashes and bright red stained lips (let’s just call her Miss Mac for now). As I took a quick glance around the store I noticed every single makeup artist had a different image. They all defied the notion of conventional beauty and yet were all strikingly attractive in their own individual ways. At this point I didn’t know much about the brand, but I liked what I saw, and I wanted to know more!

Miss Mac sat me down. She talked me through different makeup looks, tricks and products. From foundations to lipsticks, I fell in love with everything she applied on to my skin. It was a truly liberating experience. I felt reborn with a new found confidence. Without hesitation, I bought everything she suggested (I knew vigorously saving all my pocket money would come in handy some day). From this moment onwards an obsession was born and a love affair was formed (not exactly how I imagined love at first sight tbh).
Five years on, Mac cosmetics have become a vital part of my lifestyle. It’s quirky, sexy and extremely versatile (what’s not to love!). Each piece of Mac make up makes a statement. Which allows me to create the perfect makeup look for every occasion. If I am going on a hot date I pull out my “ruby woo” lipstick and it works like a charm every time. My deep purple “Rebel” lipstick makes my gothic chic biker jacket/ maxi skirt ensemble all the more believable. Whilst my “Breezy” blush adds a touch of femininity to my casual but cute days.

Apart from the amazing products and outstanding service that Mac cosmetics offer my favourite thing about the brand is its ability to appeal to everyone as oppose to a specific niche market. Beauty is represented by Mac as something that can’t be categorized, defined or put in a box because it is completely unique to everyone. Each individual is beautiful in their own way and therefore Mac cosmetics are able to offer a range of diverse products, so that there is something for everyone. Mac cosmetics have recently launched a new campaign called “Mac Me Over” which further establishes this positive message by attempting to diminish beauty stereotypes with the use of real life models. What I love so much about this campaign is that it featured model from different races, ages and body types.

So ladies and gentlemen, next time you walk past a Mac counter, grab the nearest makeup artist and scream “MAC ME OVER!” And I can guarantee you will never look back!"
